My initial response to the third assignment is to do some research on various forms of activism and social responses to any given issue, then to establish which avenues of protest resonates with my own world view.
Of the 7 means of activism that I’ve looked into, five stand out as possibly the most effective.
1. Consumer boycotts – a means of raising awareness to grievances with a company by collectively agreeing not to purchase their product/s.

2. Passive Resistance – the refusal to obey the demands of a political or governing entity without resorting to violence.

Arguably one of the most influential forms of protest (not listed above), the use of music and song. It is the inescapable force conveying both message and emotion generating/ reinforce the writer’s perspective within the social mass. (Ruehl) The most remarkable thing about protest music is that it helps people realize they’re not alone in feeling a spirit of dissent against certain injustices, whether on a personal or more overarching governmental level.
The second most effective form of activism is Demonstration in the form of Street Art. I feel that, like music, street art is instantly accessible and mostly engaged with by the masses. It is emotive, bold and forces the viewer to respond to varying degrees.
